The mighty, balanced, full of grandeur and dignity master of Belarusian wild forests - the giant Bison! Mikola Husouski gifted the image of this animal to the Pope of Rome back in the 15th century by writing his "Song about the Bison" in Latin. Driving from Minsk to Brest along the highway, you will encounter a huge sculpture of a Bison that seems about to step right onto the road. And in the fields around the Belavezhskaya and Nalibotskaya Pushchas, whole herds with calves roam freely. The modern symbol of Belarus was once almost extinct, with only one female bison left from the entire population. But thanks to an imported American bison, today more than 2,500 of them live in Belarus. Isn't that symbolic?
